Coming off a 7-4 victory Tuesday night at Central, the Cougars were back at home Friday night for a date with the visiting Markham Royals.
Captain Jack Richard opened the scoring for Burlington who took a 1-0 lead after the first twenty minutes. Burlington would get four goals in the second and two in the third on their way to a 7-0 win.
Goaltender Zach Dietz made 35 saves in the shut out.
“Our team came out to play tonight,” said Dietz. “It obviously showed on the scoreboard. It’s just a good team win at the end of the day.”
The next day, Dietz followed that up with another stellar performance in Georgetown. The Cougars goaltender made 36 stops in a 4-2 win on the road marking the end to a nine game winning streak for the Raiders.
With the game tied 2-2 going into the third, Jax Bellwood and Jack Richard would put Burlington ahead for good, scoring goals just 41 seconds apart.
Burlington will now get ready for three games coming up this weekend. Starting Thursday night in Brantford.
