Burlington will look to start a new streak on Friday night. The Cougars saw their nine game winning streak end Sunday at the hands of the Trenton Golden Hawks.
After falling behind 2-0, the Cougars were able to shake off the bus legs and even the score by the end of the first period. Goals from Joel Chauvin and Carson Christy kick started the offence for Burlington.
Heading to the third, the Cougars found themselves down a pair of goals, 4-2. Again, Burlington battled back with goals from Thomas Lenart and Jack Richard.
With 6:14 remaining in the third period, Jack Harper gave the Cougars their first lead of the night. Trenton found the equalizer less than two minutes later, forcing overtime with a score of 5-5.
Matthew Cato of Trenton had the game winner in double overtime for the Golden Hawks. Burlington goaltender Zach Dietz made 32 saves in the loss.
Burlington began the weekend with a 12-1 victory against St. Michaels at home. Captain Jack Richard had five points and collected his 100th OJHL point in the win.
The Cougars will look to get back in the win column when they host the Brantford 99ers this Friday at Central Arena before travelling to Aurora Saturday.
