NOV 17 TO 20 2022 – Burlington splits weekend games

The Cougars travelled to Brantford on Thursday night to open the weekend. After a scoreless first period, Brett Henderson opened the scoring for Burlington in the second. Jamie Langill added a second Cougars goal and that was all Burlington needed for a 2-0 victory. Cougars goaltender Max Wright collected his first OJHL shut out blanking a 99ers team on 27 shots.

On Friday, Burlington returned home to Central Arena to entertain the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Jax Bellwood had the lone goal in the first, giving Burlington an early 1-0 lead. Toronto responded in the second, taking a 2-1 lead before Crossley Stewart tied the game back up for Burlington. Late in the period, Alex Laurenza gave Toronto a 3-2 lead after forty minutes. The Jr. Canadiens would add a pair of empty net goals for a 5-2 win.

Friday’s result marked the first time Burlington lost on home ice since September 27th. The Jr. Canadiens remain undefeated on the road this season.

Sunday’s contest in Haliburton County was postponed due to weather conditions and will be rescheduled for a later date. The Cougars’ next matchup comes Saturday in Collingwood against the Blues.
