The Blues rolled into Central Friday night with a perfect 9-0 record sitting atop of the CJHL rankings. Collingwood would see their nine game winning streak come to an end, falling short 4-2 to the Cougars.
Blue liner Conner Thomson-Dick put Burlington ahead 3-2 in the dying seconds of the middle frame. Captain Jack Richard added an insurance tally in the third.
Forward Thomas Lenart had a goal and two assists in the win. “We had a rough start to the season,” said Lenart. “Doing this proves we can beat anyone in the league.”
Goaltender Zach Dietz came up big down the stretch, making 37 saves on the night.
Following some time with friends and family over Thanksgiving, Burlington got back to work Tuesday against the Stouffville Spirit.
Playing shorthanded, Burlington erupted for ten goals against the Spirit, led by Isaac Faccio who scored four goals. Eric Bertelsen had four assists and eight others had a multi point night.
“It feels great,” said Ethan Walker. “Thankful the monkey is off my back and I can keep rolling.” Walker scored his first and second OJHL goal in the 10-3 win. Goaltender Zach Dietz made 34 stops.
Cougars will begin a five game road trip Friday night in Oakville. Burlington defeated the Blades 5-1 back on Opening Night.
